Our case management team is composed of professionals with experience advocating for juvenile and educational justice. Educated and trained about the impact of trauma on neurocognitive functioning and mental health, how traumatic stress reactions can manifest in dysregulation, and the role of trauma exposure in the development of youth criminogenic risk factors, our team responds with effective trauma-informed methods of managing problematic behaviors and successfully creates, revises, and implements effective interventions for justice-involved youth and for youth exhibiting patterns of behavior that may lead to an arrest, gang violence, or incarceration.
We implement a holistic approach that addresses conditions within the youth's life that could contribute to recidivism, joblessness, homelessness, or substance abuse relapse. We engage the youth in the processes of their rehabilitation, diversion, and probation; assess the youth's needs within the home, school, and community dynamic; develop a strength-based service plan based on assessments that measure emotional and behavioral skills, competencies, characteristics, and resilience factors; monitor our youth's progress; intervene with enhanced measures with justice partners when necessary; and advocate for the youth in court, school, and at home.
Case managers work directly with youth, families, school staff, community members, law enforcement, social services agencies, and other partners to secure fair treatment for families and ensure equitable outcomes for youth. All in all, we develop the capacity of communities to respond to youth misbehavior with effective community-driven alternatives to incarceration and work towards giving voice and power to youth and families living in historically underserved, underinvested, and disenfranchised communities.
